Karen Kettl

Karen Kettl was born and raised in Casper, WY.  Her first choir experience was in sixth grade when she auditioned for a city children’s chorus.  She was fortunate to travel with this group and develop a greater love for music. She continued with music all through junior high, high school and college.  She joined the music ministry of her home parish when she was sixteen and has been singing in church ever since.

Karen earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming and moved to Las Vegas in 1994 as a new teacher for the Clark County School District.  She is in her 25th year and currently teaching third grade at Don & Dee Snyder ES.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Math Curriculum and Instruction from UNLV and has worked with the district and the teacher’s union in providing professional development for other teachers in the area of math instruction and discourse in the classroom.

Karen joined the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Music Ministry in 1995.  In addition to being a regular cantor at St. Elizabeth’s and St. Anthony’s, she also substitutes in as a cantor at Prince of Peace and Holy Family parishes.  In her free time, she enjoys all kinds of music and shows, cooking, going to the gym and traveling. She considers it a great privilege to be part of the music ministry and loves to hear the congregation singing along.  She is forever grateful that her mom took her to that first audition!

Anali Macias

Anali Macias is currently a vocal music education major at UNLV. She is a graduate from the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts where she majored in voice and studied mariachi and handbells. She

began singing with the Spanish choir at St. Francis de Sales in 2005, and since then has sung with Spanish choirs at Prince of Peace, St. Anne’s, and St. Christopher’s. In 2012, she began cantoring at Our Lady of Las Vegas. She co-directed the bilingual youth choir at St. Christopher’s fro

m 2015-2016. In addition to cantoring at St. Anthony of Padua, she also cantors at Our Lady of Las Vegas. In her free time she enjoys ringing handbells and being an activist for the pro-life movement.

Jennie Menchaca

Jennie Menchaca is a vocal music education major at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She currently studies with Joni Yeater, Dr. Tod Fitzpatrick, Dr. Joseph Svendsen, and David Weiller. Jennie also cantors at Guardian Angel Cathedral, Holy Family Catholic Church, and Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer.

Gabriel Shavalier

Joni Yeater has been a musician in the Diocese of Las Vegas for over twenty years. Currently, Joni is a cantor at Guardian Angel Cathedral, St. Anthony of Padua, and St. Joseph’s. Joni is the teen choir director at St. Joseph’s, and a vocal coach at St. Peter the Apostle.
